Welcome to the Book of Nahum! Written around 660–620 BC, this book proclaims God’s judgment against Nineveh, the capital of Assyria. The Assyrians had been a ruthless empire, oppressing many nations, including Israel. Though they repented under Jonah’s preaching a century earlier, they returned to their wicked ways.  Nahum’s prophecy declares that Nineveh will be utterly destroyed, never to rise again - a prophecy fulfilled in 612 BC when Babylon conquered Assyria. This book reminds us that *God is slow to anger but just in judgment - a call to trust in His righteousness.
